If you are estates or facilities staff then you should take our Asbestos Awareness for Facilities Staff - Category A course. As other school staff are not required to have the full qualification, this course is appropriate.

Course Content
This module will introduce you to the content of the course and online training. You will then learn about who should be aware of asbestos and why it is so important. At the end of the module you will be given an example of the kind of test you will take during your training.
This module is designed to give you a brief background on asbestos and why it was used so much in the building and other industries. We will then move on to the potential health issues surrounding it and the people who could be at risk.
The purpose of this module is to explore the materials you could encounter which may contain asbestos. The module also looks at the effect of age on these materials and how likely they are to release the deadly fibres. Finally, the module shows you how risk assessments and management are used to manage asbestos if it is found in a school.
This short module gives you an overview of what the process will be should the worst happen and you think you have disturbed or released asbestos fibres.
This module will introduce you to the relevant law and put the danger from asbestos in perspective. Finally it will offer some simple, everyday advice that you can use to help reduce the risk of accidental exposure.
The final assessment is where we test your asbestos awareness knowledge. All the answers are contained within the course.
Once you have passed your assessment, you will be able to download your certificate. The pass rate is 70% but don't worry if you do not pass the first time, as you can re-take the test as many times as you need to.
